The author:

Jack London was born in 1876 and died in 1916. He experimented with many literary forms, from conventional love stories to science fantasy. London 's great passion was agriculture, and he was well on the way of creating a new model for ranching when he died at age 40. He left over fifty books of novels.

The Story in the Book:

Buck the dog carries out a peaceful and happy life in a comfortable residence until it is stolen and resold to gold diggers  .

It then becomes a husky  in a country of ice and snow where only the strongest can survive. Buck is forced to survive and adapt to brutal and cruel conditions.

He changes hands many times before he is eventually acquired by a kind and loving owner, John Thornton. When Thornton is killed by "Yeehat Indians," Buck goes into a beastly rage and kills the Indians.

Buck returns to the wild  and becomes the alpha male of a wolf pack   .

Slowly, the domesticated dog will be erased to leave room to the wild beast. In this book, wild nature meets the company of the men.

This anthem with nature can be considered Jack London’s masterpiece.

How we feel about the book:

I think this book is a good book. I have started to read it and the beginning sounds interesting to me. Amandine

This book is by the excellent writer Jack London. The hero is a husky, who has a good life with his mater. But one day he is kidnapped  by another man. And this is when I started dreaming when I was 6 and my Mum read the story to me.  Benjamin Cros

I see a wolf that lives in the wild. I think that it is a, interesting book but it is sad. This wolf has got  blue eyes that look terrifying to me, he has got a black and white beard. Aude

I like the story because it tells the adventures of a dog in the wild and there is a lot of suspense! Thierry

Here is the cover of the book, in English. We have all read it in French first because it is not very easy to read in English. Cedric
