SECTION A – PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project aims to increase reading of
significant titles and authors from the European (and not only)
literature. It is well known that nowadays the young people spend less
time reading a good book. We want to make them read for pleasure.
That's why we'll combine
reading with other activities. Finally, we'll have a gallery of
valuable titles and writers and we'll arise the children's curiosity
towards reading.
We make a website in which each participant
(group of students and their teachers) will bring their own
contribution by sendind materials in connection with what they
recommend for reading. More partners may take part every year to this
project and the teachers' plan of making children read will be
fulfilled. The project may involve more teachers from the same school,
and the students may work in groups for the materials.
The evaluation of the project will be done with
by questions about the books.
The participants will receive a diploma. There
also will be some contests: the best page, the best
drawing/poster/story
The steps you should follow are:
- Choose a representative writer from the universal
literature
- Pick a title, and recommend it to the students to read
.Tell them how much time they havein order to read it
- Discuss the book with the children, make them understant
what they have read
- You may divide the class into more groups, or work with the
whole class at the same time (but in this case it will be more
difficult and take longer time). You may work on the same book with
them all
- Make a plan what each group will deal with
- Send in the results of your work in time
All the contributions will be sent over the inernet. Each school
will send:
- The writer and the title of the book they deal with, a few
things about the writer's biography, literary activity, other books
written by him (not more than 200) words
- Five of the students' opinions abot the book (not more than
200 words each)
- 1 drawing inspired by the book or 1 poster + a sentence, to
advise other children to read it, to say why that book is worth reading
- 2 photos taken during a play/drama the students played ,
inspired by the book
- A story created by the pupils after having read the book,
using their imagination
- Photos taken during the activities
- 5 questions (and the answes) about that book, and other 5
questions about other titles of the same writer
- Any other materials to make the own page more attractive
Everything must be simple, easy anf fun,
otherwise our aim will not be fulfilled. It shouldn't be something
boring, tiring. Try to k eep on the schedule
All the writen parts will be in English (to
find a universal way to communicate). The rest of the activities may be
performed in the native language (reading, talking, drama etc).
